Default Orders and Tained Necro Builds for IWAY

Hi everyone ~

Would someone please post the Orders and Tainted Necro Builds for use in IWAY?

I don't know who else has actually looked online but the only thing I can seem to find are senseless flaming threads that should have been deleted or at least locked by moderators a long time ago. Just do a search here in Guru for Necro builds in IWAY.

I was recently using an IWAY warrior in a very nice IWAY modification that cleaned house against other IWAYs, balanced teams, smiters, and others. Oh, it was a mostly Rank 3 group and each of us had experience with other builds as well. An no, I did not ask for the build at the time and doubt I will encounter the same players for a while.

So please don't kill this thread with I hate IWAY and IWAY sucks posting. And I'm sick of reading the flaming on this board after searching fruitlessly, so please, serious answers only.

I'm a little hazy on some of the terminology when it comes to builds, heck, today I just realized my PvE build is, in fact, an echo nuker. And here I thought I was just an el/mes.

What I'm hazy on here is, I always thought, since it is called a "tainted necro", that it somehow was built around tainted flesh. Reading your build here, I'm assuming my thinking was wrong. Is this the standard tainted necro I always here about, or is this just one of many ways its built?

rii posted a pretty good Orders Necro build. Not a Tainted Necro build like knives did.

Knives build is more of a jack of all trades build using Meteor Shower more for the knockdowns than the damage and maelstrom for the interrupts.

Personally I have a problem with knives build because he uses two different 25e AND exhaustion causing spells of different attributes minimizing their damage to nill. The logic behind it I DO agree with, going for near constant interruption of the AoE for near 20 full seconds. But he cuts his own usefulness nearly by 1/3 by using some VERY energy intensive skills. the Wells are expensive skills, ESPECIALLY when operating under 2 exhaustion being 15e and 25e each respectively with easily interrupted cast times.

Just something to think on.

take rigor mortis isnted of rend as thn u can hit dodging targets in wards thiscombines well with mark of pain

Tainted necros need well of the profane. It's the spell that justifies their presence. Tainted flesh is just the icing on the cake.

wouldnt airborne speed be better for a tainted in where the ghost needs to run. and u dont need points in fire or water. the points only add dmg and u use them for the interrrupts.

As Tainted I usually take Consume Corpse it Helps as self heals, energy regen, and moving away from a warrior that is chasing you. Also it helps against other IWAY tainted necro for corpse control.

Cool Tainted And Orders

I have been playing both Tainted and Orders in IWAY teams for a bit now; have a few spell preferences;

Tainted Flesh
Maelstrom
Windbourne Speed
Ward of Melee
Consume Corpse
Putrid Explosion/Well of Suffering or Profane
Ressurect Signet

Those are the 7 skills reccomended for Tainted Necromancers, you basically have the choice to bring one skill of your own choosing; using more Wards (ward against foes or elements), or skills like Eruption or equivilent can be useful against groups who huddle into packs on altars etc. Tainted should be corpse controller for IWAY teams.

Orders should be the healer patron of the IWAY group;

Order of the Vampire
Order of Pain
Blood Renewal
Healing Seed
Heal Party
Remove Hex
Ressurect Signet


Those Seven are pretty much the requirements for an Orders, the other two are up to the individual. I like to use Remove Hex or any equivilent fast casting hex removal spell and Vampiric Touch ... Groups are learning quickly to take down Necro/Monk in IWAY teams so it's good to have to something to be able to defend yourself with.
Alternatively an Orders Necro with almost pure healing is favoured by IWAY warriors. Heal Other and Heal area are always welcome.

you forgot the one most important skill for a tainted: death nova...

the real essentials, if you ask me, are:
1. tainted (suprising, i know)
2. death nova
3. putrid explosion
4. maelstrom
5. windborn speed
6. well of suffering/well of the profane (i prefer profaine)
7. res sig

Here is my builds for an Order Necro and Tainted necro for IWAY builds and some discription on how I play them.

1 N/Mo Orders Necro

Blood: 12 + 1 + 3 = 16
Soul : 3 + 1 = 4
Healing: 12

Order of the Vampire (Elite Blood)
Order of Pain (Blood)
Well of Blood (Blood)
Life Siphon (Blood)
Shadow of Fear (Curses)
Healing Breeze (Healing)
Heal Party (Healing)
Rez Sig

Most Nuub Order necros will spam the orders as fast as they can, but this isn’t how this build is suppose to be played. An order necro’s main job is to keep the warriors and rangers alive long enough to get some pets down and only hit the Orders at the start and for a finishing blow. It is best to use TS/Vent so you can have a warrior telling the Order when to hit the OoP or OoV. So, basically, at the start of the battle you hit healing breeze, cast both Orders, and when you teammates start taking damage, start spamming Heal Party. Also, as an Order necro, you must stay as far away from the battle as you can to keep from getting targeted, if you do, you should have a defensive trapper to help you, or just use the monk defense, run. Shadow of Fear will also help against Warriors that want to pick on you, even though you don't have any points in Curses it still lasts for 20 secs. Life Siphon is a rarely used skill, about the only time you will use it is for when you have an runner at the end, just helps you kill them faster. Well of Blood is the other rarely used skill, only when you really need to heal the warriors do you even get close enough to the battle to cast Well of Blood.


1 N/E Tainted Necro

Death: 12 + 1 + 3 = 16
Soul : 6 + 1 = 7
Air : (whatever is left)

Tainted Flesh (Elite Death)
Well of Profane (Death)
Well of Suffering (Death)
Putrid Explosion (Death)
Consume Corpse (Death)
Maelstrom (Water)
Windborne Speed (Air)
Rez Sig

Once again, most beginners think that Tainted Flesh is what makes this build, and once again they are wrong. The two Wells are what this build is all about, Well of Profane being the best. Tainted Flesh is just a plus to this build, but as a plus you need to keep it on your team as much as you can. You first put it on your team with 12 sec to go before the battle starts, and then keep it on them when you have time through the battle. You do not need to but it on your team to fight the ghost, since it doesn’t work on them, but at the start of this battle, you need to run in and cast Maelstrom on the Ghost Ele. Also, if you are wondering about the Windborne Speed, you use this to help you escape battle, but most importantly, you use it on your teams runner for the relic run and the Ghostly Hero for when you need to cap an Alter.

How to play against different builds:

IWAY - it is best to spam Tainted and Consume Corpse. Once the enemy Tainted Necro is down, then you use Well of Suffering and Putrid Explosion.

Ele spike - you can drop tainted flesh, since they won’t be hitting anyone with melee damage and just get a Maelstrom cast in the middle of their ball. Once a death has occurred put down a Well of Profane and then a Well of Suffering down next.

Ranger Spike - your job becomes very VERY difficult b/c of the fast cast Orders on the ranger team. Once again, Tainted is pointless b/c of no Melee damage so Well of Profane becomes your main thing you want to get down. Most ranger spikes have a bonder, so if you can put a Maelstrom down near the Monks, the fight becomes a lot easier. Even better is if you can get the fast cast orders down, b/c it will cut the spike damage in half and also allow you to put down a Well of Profane and then all you have to do is watch all the rangers die.

Balanced - the next hardest build for the Tainted Necro, this is because balanced builds are different from one another so you must determine what is best against the one you are facing. Tainted Flesh is back into play here, b/c they will have at least a couple of melee damage dealers. Against good monks you should try to get a Maelstrom down and against a good Necro corpse user you need to spam Consume Corpse.


I'm in no way saying this is how you play these builds, but it is how I play them. If there are better ways plz tell me so that I may be better

When I played Tainted I like to use Necrotic traversal to poison the enemy and allowing me to move around quickly and taking corpses from the other team quickly. I also liked using some curse spells like enfeeble so the other team warriors or rangers did less damage. It worked really well when I used it, the other team had constant health degen and couldnt out damage our monks' heals.

Default my tainted build, id like to think it rules, works perfect for me

Tainted flesh {e}

Windborne speed
consume corpse
putrid explosion
Well of profane/suffering (depends on my mood or what the group wants)
Res sig

death magic 12+1+3
soul reaping 9+1 (minor rune)
Fire Magic 8
Air magic 5

some attacks you and thers a corpse near? CC it
grouped players? met shower them then when one dies putrid explosion them, should easily kill another... then profane/suffering or another putrid, can easily clear a grouped team inside wards
someone attacks but no corpse? gale + windborne = goodbye! /wave

Most important part! keep recasting tainted flesh, i may only be r2, but i know how to taint! and this is important or your team gets diseased.

ask to be 8th and start tainted 8-10 secs b4 entrance, you should be ont he 7th person before you get in, this will leave only you 2 taint

in zaishen, taint pets aswell...helps alot...and then dont recast on them diseas will kill them faster.

Stand back! don't lead the team, your a support character, not a tank

use a 20/20 rod with a +1 death magic offhand... helps alot when casting taint around on the halve cast time, and a +1 on putrid owns!

whenever you see your soul reaping kick in, hit a corpse skill, before someone CC's it.

use bloodstained boots to quicken up corpse spells...
